The report summarizes the actitivities and finances of the federal Election Assistance Commission, including the Commission's work regarding voting systems, voter identification laws, voter registration databases and other election issues.

In early February, the Citizens Redistricting Commission may hold their first Public Outreach meetings to solicit public input specifically about redistricting. Commission meetings are being held in Claremont, California February 10-13, 2011.
The commission will announce on Thursday, February 10, or Friday, February 11, the times and locations of Public Outreach meetings for Saturday February 12 and Sunday February 13, 2011.
On January 12, 2011, The Legislative Analyst Office released a report on the Governor's proposed budget plan which addresses an estimated $25.4 billion state budget deficit. It includes reductions in nearly every area of the state budget and a package of revenue proposals that merit serious legislative consideration. There is significant work ahead to fill in the details of the Governor's proposals and there may be a June special election concerning extensions of tax increases.

California's first Citizens Redistricting Commission is now fully formed. The first eight members of the commission voted to approve a slate of 6 additional members at their meeting on December 15, 2010.
