We are pleased to announce the 2022-23 Trudy Schafer Fellow for Public Policy - Meet Adrianna Champagne-Zamora!
Adrianna joins the League as our third Trudy Schafer Fellow for Public Policy. A current student at UC Davis, Adrianna was raised in Vallejo and is passionate about advocating for reform on the critical issues facing California including housing and the environment.
“Being from the Bay Area, housing is always on your mind,” said Adrianna. “Now I am living in the Davis/Sacramento area and I am witnessing the crisis of the unhoused first hand–a sad fact of life for California,”'she added.
After attending Benicia High School, Adrianna attended Diablo Valley Community College and now UC Davis where she will graduate in June with a BA in political science, public service with a minor in environmental planning and policy analysis. The first in her family to graduate college, Adrianna is thrilled to use her background in climate policy for her hands-on work at the League.
Adrianna is also passionate about voting rights.
“I vote with my grandparents every election. Voting is the foundation of democracy–making it accessible is important to me. It should be so easy you don't have to think about it,” she remarked.
Currently a commissioner of the ASUCD Environmental Policy & Planning Commission, Adrianna has also worked as a research student on a wide variety of environmental projects. In her free time, Adrianna is an avid rock climber and loves to spend time outdoors camping, backpacking, and hiking. She also likes to bake, cook, and play board games with friends.
Adrianna will carry on Trudy’s legacy and the work of the League in fighting for a fair and just California. You can continue to support this Fellowship and ensure the League remains a strong voice in California’s Capitol.
Feel free to post a welcome message to Adrianna on Facebook.
