We have some exciting news to share with you. As you probably know, leading up to the 2020 General Election, the LWVC Education Fund undertook a new effort in creating a digital youth Get Out the Vote campaign. This campaign, combined with our more traditional voter education work helped us reach 300% more voters than in any previous election cycle!
But, here’s more exciting news. The Public Relations Society of America has announced that we are finalists for two national Silver Anvil Awards for excellence in communication. The Silver Anvil Awards are the gold standard in communications recognition. The LWVC Education Fund’s campaign, “#VotingMovesCA: Activating Youth Voices for Voter Turnout” is a finalist for awards for effective use of influencers to increase awareness and for multicultural public relations.
While we are still a few months away from the announcement of the winners, being named a finalist for these national awards should be a source of pride for our members and supporters. The League thrives on excellence, and this kind of recognition validates that we continue to uphold the highest standards in our work, and continue to find effective new ways to serve and empower more of California’s voters, particularly those who have been historically under-resourced.
As we celebrate this recognition of our work, we are also looking ahead at a likely recall election in the fall, and the unprecedented loss of a House seat based on the new census numbers. Which means, we have a lot of public education and engagement work to do on these issues to ensure all Californians have the desire, the knowledge and the confidence to participate - to have their voices heard.
We dream big and will keep dreaming bigger - so that we can engage and ignite civic passion in as many Californians possible. And we will continue to do it with the excellence and trustworthiness for which the League is known.
Please make a gift today - not only to help celebrate the recognition of the work we have done, but to ensure that we can keep moving forward and reaching more voters as we look ahead to all that is coming.
We also salute our communication agency partner, Mixte Communications, for their stellar work and partnership on our GOTV project!
