The League of Women Voters of Monterey County will present a free talk titled: "The Monterey County Grand Jury"" at its in- person Annual Meeting and  "Lunch and Learn"  at 11:15 am on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. Guest Speakers, Tom M. Mastre and Maria A. Y. Garcia will discuss the workings of the Monterey County Civil Grand Jury. Responsibilities of Civil Grand Juries include examining all aspects of county government, all municipalities, and special districts, to ensure that the County is being governed honestly and efficiently and that County funds are being handled appropriately.

Greetings! We have another High School Voter Reg drive next week! OUR GOAL:Pre-register as many 16+ students as possible!  Date:Wednesday, May 22Time:NOON-1:30 for volunteers - this gives time for set up, lunchtime (12:45-1:25pm), & tear downPlace: Lynbrook High School QUAD/Stage area 1280 Johnson Avenue San Jose, CA 95129Note:  We are working with the JSA (Junior State of America) Club at Lynbrook Please let me know if you can make it!  I need to give your names to the school in the next couple days.

Empower Voters and Defend Democracy    As our League continues its efforts to empower voters and defend democracy in this ultra-important election year,  our annual meeting is the kick-off to the fall election season.  With that in mind, w.e  need all hands on deck to help out.

Our speaker is Lee K. Fink, Chair of the Business Litigation Department for the Brower Law Group. In addition to his experience as a business, employment, and probate litigator, Lee has extensive experience is political law and campaigns and law. He was staff on both Obama Presidential campaigns as a statewide deputy and later voter protection director, a senior advisor for the Hillary Campaign, and a consultant for Stacey Abrams Fair Fight in 2020.

On May 29, 2024, the League of Women Voters of the Redding Area will conduct their annual members' meeting at the McConnell Foundation. The business segment will include the approval of local positions and the election of officers, Board of Directors, and the Nominating Committee for the 2024-2025 term.
