LWVMRYCO Annual Meeting
Climate Change: Advocating for Action. Recent reports from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and many other sources, reinforce that the moment to accelerate action to address climate change is now. The first step in any collective response to a major threat is communication. We need to be talking about climate change as easily and often as we talk about any other challenge we face.However, talking about climate can be hard. The Valley Book Club will meet via Zoom to discuss the book The Agitators: Three Friends Who Fought for Abolition and Women's Rights by renown author, Dorothy Wickenden. This is a story set in pre-Civil War America of three women who fought for abolition of slavery and for women's rights. Join us for a special meeting of Lunch with League. Instead of a guest speaker, our Education and Housing committee chairs will introduce an exciting project proposal to aid housing and food insecure students at our three local colleges. Your leadership team will also briefly explain some proposed changes to our bylaws, policies, and budget. All of these will be action items requiring a vote at our Annual Meeting in June, so we want to insure there is lots of opportunity for questions and discussion.
