The Commission will be meeting  July 27updated-29, to consider district numbering and deferral issues and other commission business. The meetings will be streamed live online and the public will be able to access visualizations on the proposed districts that the Commission will be discussing.

Final Maps to be released July 29, 2011

Visualizations of proposed districts can be viewed at www.wedrawthelines.ca.gov. The public is encouraged to view the visualizations and to send comment to the Commissioners at votersfirstact [at] crc.ca.gov or by fax at 916-651-5711.

Public input on the maps received after July 23, 2011, will not impact the maps. Comments received after the line drawing phase is formally closed will still be reviewed and posted.

Public participation in drawing these districts was critical to ensuring that communities have the strongest voice possible to express their preferences. When voters with similar interests are drawn into a district together, their voices multiply giving them a greater opportunity to express their views, elect candidates of their choice and hold their leaders accountable. Public comments can be viewed  on the commissions website,wedrawthelines.ca.gov.

Anyone wishing to provide testimony to the Commission can learn more about how to effectively present information by going to www.wedrawthelines.ca.gov . To assist you in providing your presentation, the commission has developed a “Guide”

Final district maps must be certified by the Commission and presented to the Secretary of State by August 15, 2011.

There is additional information about redistricting and planning your testimony at Cavotes.org.
