Hundreds of delegates representing local Leagues of Women Voters throughout the state will gather in San Diego for their Biennial Convention themed “Let the Sun Shine In” on May 14-17 at the Westin Gaslamp San Diego. California Secretary of State Alex Padilla and National Institute on Civil Discourse Executive Director Carolyn Lukenmeyer will address attendees of the convention. "The League works to make California a fair and vibrant place for all of us,” said the League of Women Voters of California President Helen Hutchison. “In San Diego, our grassroots members will network and share ideas about making democracy work by fighting for voting rights, keeping dark money out of politics, and providing nonpartisan education for our diverse population."

League members will hear guest speakers, elect officers and the Board of Directors, approve the budget and bylaw changes, participate in educational workshops, and adopt the League’s biennial program. Follow the events on Twitter @LWVC or using the hashtag #LWVC2015.

•     Carolyn Lukensmeyer, Executive Director, the National Institute on Civil Discourse –May 16 at 6 pm in the San Diego Ballroom
•     Elisabeth MacNamara, President, League of Women Voters of the United States – May 17, noon luncheon in the San Diego Ballroom

The biennial convention provides the opportunity for League members to take advantage of training opportunities at workshops, participate in caucuses, network with peers from Humboldt County to the Imperial Valley, and listen and learn from knowledgeable speakers.
