March 3, 2014
9 am to 7 pm
Location: California Endowment
The FoCE conference has a focus on election reform and its potential impact on communities across the state. It is an opportunity for policymakers, researchers and advocates to learn about how the state and communities can implement the many great reforms and improvements identified over the last few years to expand California's democracy.
Speakers will discuss the current environment for reform, examine the latest research, drill down on the details of key issues in the field and look ahead to new possibilities for expanding participation and improving elections in California!
Highlights include:
- Discussion on the new poll worker opportunities for lawful permanent residents (LPRs) as a result of AB 817
- Online Voter Registration
- Improved voter registration opportunities for low-income and other underserved communities through compliance with the National Voter Registration Act (aka the Motor-Voter law)
- The need to modernize elections to better serve the state's increasingly diverse electorate
