The League of Women Voters of California Education Fund (LWVCEF) has received a grant from the Irvine Foundation for a project to develop a best practices manual for all of California’s Official Voter Information Guides.
The manual will present recommendations on how to meet the needs of California’s diverse voters and increase engagement, including:
- improving accessibility, design and delivery
- eliminating confusing and complicated technical language
- overcoming technology barriers.
The LWVCEF will partner closely with the Voter Information work group of Future of California Elections (FOCE) to develop the Best Practices Manual for Voter Information Guides. Additional outreach will be conducted to key California demographics whose voter registration and voter turn-out lags behind the general population, including communities of color, immigrants, young people, persons with disabilities, and the rural poor.
